Carthusia I Profumi Di Capri

Capri, the legendary Italian island, has captivated visitors since Roman times with its beauty and charm. In 1380, the Prior of St. Giacomo Monastery created a floral arrangement for Queen Giovanna d’Angiò. Days later, he noticed the water had developed a unique fragrance, traced to the island’s native "Garofilium Silvestre Caprese." This became Capri’s first perfume. Forgotten for centuries, the formula was rediscovered in 1948 and, with papal permission, shared with a chemist who founded Carthusia, the world’s smallest perfume lab. Today, Carthusia preserves this tradition with artisanal, limited-production scents.
